Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in St. Petersburg, Fl
-
Great question—and honestly, if you’re even asking this, it probably means something inside you is ready for support. You don’t need to be in crisis or have everything figured out. Therapy can help with anxiety, relationship struggles, burnout, self-worth, and more. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not like yourself, therapy can give you space to sort it out with someone trained to help.
-
All of our therapists bring their own unique style, but what ties us together is our holistic, compassionate approach. You won’t find a one-size-fits-all vibe here. We use evidence-based modalities like CBT, IFS, somatic work, and attachment theory—woven together based on you. Therapy is collaborative, and we’ll check in often to make sure what we’re doing is actually working for you.
-
Think of it as a really honest conversation—no pressure to dive into your deepest traumas on day one. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, your goals, and what you hope therapy will look like. You’re allowed to ask questions and say what you need. This first session is about seeing if we’re a good fit—and we’ll take it from there.

Sunshine City Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance directly. However, we’re happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients use their HSA or FSA cards as well.
-
That’s real—and you’re not alone. Not every therapist or approach is the right match, and that’s okay. Sometimes it’s about timing, sometimes it’s about fit. At Sunshine City Counseling, we care deeply about helping you feel seen and supported. We’ll slow it down, figure out what you need this time around, and rebuild trust in the process.
