“Comfort is often mis-defined as what takes away anxiety...comfort is receiving kindness from another being kind to yourself in the midst of your anxiety.”

Living outside of your passport country is both exciting and overwhelming. Sad yet filled with wonder. Loaded with adventure while also feeling lonely.

Sure it’s cool to live in an exotic place or one filled with thousands of years of history. Either way, though, it’s not your home.

Being an expatriate (expat) is exciting and fun and an adventure of a lifetime for sure but it comes at a cost. The first year in any new city, let alone a country, is difficult.

It can feel like you’re a bit invisible at times depending where you’re living. It can also feel like you are always “on” by being a minority and sticking out like a sore thumb.

We’re not built to go it alone and our staff at Sunshine City Counseling is uniquely trained to meet your specific and unique needs as an expat, as a missionary.

Life is hard. We’re better together.
